Sensorial Assessments
Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD) is a condition that affects how your brain processes sensory information. SPD can affect all of your senses or just one. Understanding sensory preferences can support an individual or a parent to anticipate situations where they may feel overwhelmed.
There are three classifications of SPD: sensory modulation disorder, sensory based motor disorders and sensory discrimination disorder.
A common denominator in those who are neurodiverse is Sensorial Processing Disorder, though it can be a stand alone condition
By undergoing a Sensorial Assessment you can gain understanding on your loved ones behaviors and we can use this as a basis to assist the person to manage their needs, by reducing stimuli they find stressful, or to participate in activities that make them feel calmer.
The Sensorial Assessment includes:
- 3 x 50 min observations across known settings.
- Sensorial Assessment questionnaire
- Report with toolkit and suggested equipment.
This assessment is can be extremely beneficial for parents / individuals who are struggling to understand a loved ones behaviour and help them whilst awaiting for neurodelevopmental assessments. (ADD or Autism)
